A BLACK Dragon Lies Beneath!

I took the Inner Dragon online quiz and found out I am a Black Dragon on the inside. If there ever was an aparition of Evil, my Inner Dragon is it. Blackies are a fairly common dragon and are considered one of two harmonious dragons. My anti-thesis is the White Dragon. Together, we embody the Yin and Yang concept of eastern religions.

But I couldn't care less about that garbage. I like to chomp things, cause trouble, and seek unjustified revenge. My favorable attributes are the Moon, the stars, dreams, psychic guidance, seeking truth, and helpful dark magic. Everybody's still got to watch out for me though, because deep down I like to smite at random and have a nasty breath weapon combination of Fire and Acid. *evil grin* Fun, no?

I live in Santa Monica, a suburb of L.A., with it's smog, sound and light pollution. So to see the Leonids I headed out to 29 Palms, a desert community, about 2.5 to 3-hrs drive east of here. It's north of Palm Springs for those who know the area.
I have a friend who has a house and land out there, where you can see the Milky Way and faint star groups and galaxy clusters with the naked eye. Quite a treat for me as I am an old stargazer from way back. With a reclining beach chair and my sleeping bag zipped up to my chin I was delighted to view the best shooting star show in my life. While it was not the magnitude that they predicted it was still more meteors than I have seen in my entire lifetime of staring skyward. The showers started slowly around 11 p.m. and built up to a crest between 1:30 and 2:30 with stragglers still showing up as late as 6 am the next morning.
There was a potluck dinner before the main show and plenty of friends not seen for a few years. There was also a slew of new friends made that night.
This is supposed to be the best for another 33 years or so, at which point I will be in my 90's, hopefully they can prop me up for the next show.

Last week the world lost a truly wonderful man. For those of you in the music/movie industries, you may recognize Vern. He was “a Writer, Poet, Road Manager, Best friend, Dog lover and Family man”.
On first hearing of Vern’s passing, I was mad as hell; here MY friend was taken from ME. I would no longer have Vern at MY side, why had God done this to ME. Upon reflecting on Vern’s words I realized just how selfish my response was. He would have minimized the whole thing with “ I lived, I died, get over it”.
After attending his memorial last night I realized how lucky I was to have know this man and to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing. To rejoice in all the wonderful things I heard from him rather than feel deprived of his future contact. He was one of my mentors. I will probably spend the rest of my life remembering, and applying these Witticisms to my life.
I bear some small resemblance to Vern such that I received many a back rub or hug in his name before folks realized that I was not he. All of these contained such a quantity of love that they always overwhelmed me. I always passed them on to their rightful owner every time I saw Vern.
Good bye old friend, I will miss you but I know your memory will be with me always.

These are the ramblings of an aging hippy/freak and my observations on Life, the Universe and Everything.

I think that covers it all. Please check this page from time to time to see if they have come and carted me away as of yet.
